February 2024 — My first book in French, La femme qui ne pouvais pas parler (The woman who could not speak), also published by FriesenPress, is already available at bookstores online as well as at the Indigo Laval bookstore.
This year the Montreal International Portugal Festival took place at Rialto Theatre from June 17 to June 19, 2022. This is a public-access festival to celebrate and promote Portuguese language, culture and cuisine in the beautiful multicultural City Of Montreal, Canada. Here are some pictures of my wonderful and exciting first experience as an author at this Festival.

May 6, 2022 — The updated book A Patch of Black Ice is now officially up for sale at online bookstores.
The reader can see the following added information on the Copyright page, just after Copyright © 2017 by Maria de Andrade, First Edition 2017:
The book was revised and corrected for small errors in 2022.

March 2022 — A kind and generous reader alerted me to the unusual amount of errors in my book A Patch of Black Ice. I checked and found out that the final manuscript was not the one used for the book.
This is an author’s nightmare. My sincere apologies to readers. Fortunately, the mistakes do not mess up the story. They are mostly wrong prepositions and verb tenses, with the occasional "as to not..." instead of "as not to..." (all easy to overlook when English is your third language.) I still want to mention the following two errors, even if readers can detect them on their own: Chapter 14, Page 139, Line 9 from end: Should be Gilbert’s, not Olivier’s; Chapter 20, Page 204, Line 15 from end: Should be Olivier, not Tiago—a character from a previous book.
I am now working with the publisher to have the approved manuscript replace the wrong one. This process takes time. I will inform you as soon as the revised version is available at online bookstores.

Jan. 25th 2022 — Our sweet dog Miko, the Poodle, left us today to join his big sister Lili, the Beagle. They inspired me to write my first book after Lili passed away in 2010. They both enjoyed their time in this world until we had to let them go to stop the suffering. Rest in peace my lovelies. We will never forget you.

2020 was the year to travel and promote the books I’ve written and published in the previous six years. Covid-19 changed all my plans. That’s nothing compared with the pain and suffering so many people have to endure because of the pandemic. Wishing 2021 will bring health, peace, love, happiness and prosperity to all.
